Mia by Scott Andrews

Ladies, Gentleman and those of you in between I present to you my latest tale: Mia.  A story so short that it would struggle to climb aboard an ant.  Nonetheless, it is a story, and a story worth investing 5 minutes in.

Mia1Mia was born out of the realisation that sometimes it’s easier to be brutally honest within the boundaries of fiction than spelling it our directly.  Recently I found myself drawn to a topic again and again, and I never felt able to address it without my emotions getting the better of me.  Somehow I have managed to shoehorn them into a story which I hope will make each of you stop and think.

Without saying anymore I shall leave you with a teaser:

Mia, a troubled young woman is tired of the way her life is.  In the blink of an eye she is swept into a moment which changes the course of her life and has serious implications for her future.  If only someone would come to her rescue.  Unluckily for her, Nobody did.

Life On The Y List

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the remarkable union of one man, and a life full of unfulfilled ambitions, marked only by failure, whisky and swearwords.  It gives me absolutely no pleasure whatsoever to announce that I have made little progress with all of my numerous projects.  I have been doing the equivalent of treading water in sinking sand.

The only positive news is that I have started writing a third novel.  I am about two-thirds of the way through it, with a word count of around 60,000 words.  It has served as a wonderful distraction from the realities of life.  The only concern as always is whether it will make a coherent story in the end.  I hope to find out sometime during the next month.

My efforts to get my other novel, chronologically speaking my first, published have got nowhere.  For now I have put it to one side as I have been focused on writing.  I hope to get back to it one day in the future when I have found the courage to get rejected once more.  It’s like being the ugliest girl in the village.

In the near future I will post more details regarding a children’s book.  My fantastically talented co-conspirators have finished their part so now it’s all down to me.  I only need to find time to edit them.

Oh and of course there is just one more thing.  I recently did an interview for Smashwords.  You can read it right here.

‘All Hallows’ Eve’ Is Now Available

Finally I am both relieved and excited to announce that ‘All Hallows’ Eve’ is now available directly from Smashwords. Just in case you have forgotten what it is all about, check out this short description:

All Hallows' EveHalloween. The one day a year people wear ridiculous outfits, and drink for reasons they don’t understand. Unless they are British. Then they do that every day.

In a trendy London bar, three friends meet up at a fancy-dress party, in appropriately silly clothes for such an occasion. Each of them content to hide their true selves behind their costumes. The trouble is there are some things you can’t hide from. Like fate.

The good news is that Smashwords now offers the story in a wide variety of formats including Epub and mobi, for those of you that have an e-book reader and a PDF for those of you that don’t.  The less good news is that if you don’t have a Smashwords account, you will have to sign up for one.  However don’t panic, it only takes a minute and is incredibly straightforward.

P.S.  Don’t forget to leave a review on Smashwords and Goodreads once you have read it.  And share it with every human being you ever come in contact with!

Much Ado About Nothing

I have been quieter than a mouse with a throat infection as of late, as there really hasn’t been that much going on. However there have been some bits and pieces and that is reason enough to write a short post.

First up, on a personal note I am relieved to have finally passed my driving test.  I have spent most of the last week visiting family in England, which was strange considering I am now qualified to drive on the other side of the road. One of life’s little ironies I guess.

I would also like to give a special mention to one of my favourite places in England, Trentham Monkey Forest.  It is exactly what it says it is. A forest full of monkeys.  Seriously, is there anybody on earth who wouldn’t actually enjoy that?

On the subject of hedonistic pleasures, I finally got to see ‘Frog’n’Dog’ perform one of my songs live.  The song in question is entitled ‘Seventh Circle’ and is about Satan’s take on a number of recent conflicts.  It was a somewhat surreal experience, but one that I look forward to repeating.  All I can tell you about it is that the song is clearly awesome, and that you will have to wait a few more months to hear it.  Intrigued?  Then why not like  ‘Frog’n’Dog’ on Facebook to stay ahead of the crowd.

I also have a little news regarding everyone’s a certain book about old men and ninjas, namely.. if any of you out there would like to get a free copy of the ‘Existence Is Futile’ eBook, you will have a chance this coming Sunday. The ‘Shut Up & Read’ group on Goodreads will be giving away copies in exchange for reviews.  The best thing of all is that they don’t even have to be good ones ;P  All you have to do is log on to Goodreads (you can do that by linking your Facebook account) join the group, and keep your eyes open on Sunday when they post the link to ‘Existence Is Futile‘.  The whole process could not be simpler.

I can also happily announce that I have finished editing my next book (my solo part anyway).  I have given it to my must trusted eagle-eyed hyphenator-in-chief to give it the once over.  I have also submitted it to one publisher in the U.K. and am back to the business of waiting around and scratching my bottom and glancing nervously at my to-do list.  Until next time, be good.
